Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2019

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Ministry of Labour's 258 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $30,753,225.93 in 2018.

Topping the list for the Ministry of Labour was Chief Physician Leon Genesove, who brought home $380,855.20 in 2018.

Following Leon Genesove was Deputy Minister Sophie Dennis, with annual earnings of $288,321.07. Senior Medical Consultant Nikhil Rajaram made $209,683.62, Medical Consultant Sylvie Hudon made $199,033.51, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy Division Marcelle Crouse round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $196,235.79 for the Ministry of Labour 2019 Sunshine List.
